Thank you for taking the time to visit Bahia de Caráquez (Ecocity), Ecuador´s hidden treasure. This small ecological city has one of the best climates in the world. Even when it is raining in other nearby areas, the peninsular winds keep its residence in happy weather all year round. The city is an exclusive vacation resort for the wealthy in Ecuador who keep their private luxury ocean side condos and homes. The city services are some of the best in the country as seen by the clean streets and sidewalks which are swept every day. Its residents also have a lot of the benefits of a large city with museums, large police force, airport and several medical clinics without any of the traffic and noise of a big city. Everything is just a few blocks so you can just walk or take the ecologically friendly tricycles. But if you need a large city, Manta is just about one hour and a half a way or Guayaquil is just 3 to 4 hours car drive. Bahia is situation on a peninsula with the Pacific Ocean and the Bay of the Chone River. Activities include water skiing, sailing, surfing, kayaking, mountain climbing, skydiving, or just sitting back and watching whales on their yearly visit to the area. Bahia is probably the safest and cleanest little city on the beach you will ever find. The only problem is that there are not many places to purchase because not many people want to sell.
